American director, actor and performer Jared McNeill is one of the most eclectic artists on the international scene. Trained by Maestro Peter Brook, he worked for ten years with his company, both on stage and behind the scenes, developing a rigorous artistic vision that combines theatrical research with digital storytelling and music.
In 2016, he made his debut as a director with The Conductor, which was presented at numerous festivals and theatres in the United States and Europe, including Teatro Due in the 2018/2019 Season. He has a special bond with Italy, which has been consolidated over the years through artistic collaborations and training activities: central to this was his meeting with Alessandro Serra, who wanted him on stage in La Tempesta and Tragùdia: il canto di Edipo; in addition to this, he has conducted educational courses and workshops with various cultural and theatrical institutions throughout Italy.
And now comes Parma: from 10 to 15 April he will be directing Fondazione Teatro Due’s new production, Il racconto d’inverno (The Winter’s Tale), Shakespeare’s fascinating tragicomedy starring a cast of young actors. This will be Jared’s first encounter with the Bard, applying his talent to a multi-layered text that explores time through a narrative free from the constraints of realism and that shifts from dark and suffocating moments to colourful, light-hearted and comical explosions.
