A perceptive exploration of the power of change within a project, a reading-concert that transcends the boundaries of the traditional melologue to create a refined interweaving of music and words. Orazio Sciortino on piano, Domenico Nordio on violin, and the narrating voice of Lucrezia Guidone give shape to a theatrical experience in which sound and text illuminate one another, in a continuous interplay of emotional and narrative references.
At the heart of the project lies one of the seminal masterpieces of Western literature: Ovid’s Metamorphoses, taken as the poetic template for an original musical drama conceived by Orazio Sciortino based on Vittorio Sermonti’s translation. Ovid’s verses, with their lyricism and imaginative power, engage in dialogue with a programme of music by Szymanowski, Liszt, Say and Debussy.
