A show that explores the relationship between Olympic sport and two central themes of contemporary history: war and peace.
Through the story of the Olympics, which began in the late 19th century with the aim of promoting understanding between peoples, it becomes clear how the Olympic Games have often been influenced by the political balance of power and international conflicts of their time. The narrative begins with the founding of the modern Olympics in Paris and traces some of the key milestones in their history: the interruptions caused by the world wars, the transformations in sport in the post-war period, and certain episodes that have marked Olympic history. Among these, emblematic figures and editions stand out, such as Pierre de Coubertin, Abebe Bikila and the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, which demonstrate how sport can also become a symbolic arena for competition between nations. Through these stories, the show highlights the often complex relationship between the Olympic ideal of bringing peoples together and the reality of the conflicts that have marked the history of the twentieth century.
