Rendez-vous is the story of an encounter at the crossroads of the imagination. On this special occasion, Victoria, Jean-Baptiste, Aurélia and James Thierrée open their scrapbook of memories and revisit, as if on a dreamlike journey, fragments of their past performances. The result is an intimate narrative that weaves together circus, theatre and music hall. From the birth of Cirque Bonjour in 1971 to Cirque Invisible, via La Symphonie du Hanneton, Aurelia’s Oratorio, Raoul and Murmures des murs, Rendez-vous unleashes a fireworks display of stolen moments, where imagination reigns supreme.

We could resort to all manner of clichés, explain to you in great detail the whys and wherefores, tell you that Rendez-vous is either a return to their roots, an artistic pinnacle, a familiar mise en abyme, or even a way of coming full circle. We could talk to you about tradition, the theatrical world, lineage, those who followed in their parents’ footsteps, or the idealistic performers who created a new circus in the 1970s. We could psychoanalyse all this, lay bare our innermost reasons or our shared quirks, and thus reveal a whole host of reasons that have driven us to share this stage once more, a few decades on from that lovely, now-faded family photograph. But we shan’t. We’ll leave you to imagine, dream or ignore all of this, so that you can lose yourselves even more fully with us at the heart of this unique event.
